"You Go Girl!"

Bordering the Williamsburg Bridge, a daily viewing from the M, J and Z Trains.

If you live in New York City, particularly in Brooklyn then you have undoubtedly seen the phrase
"You Go Girl" graffitied all over the dang place. The first time I saw this plastered over buildings I thought it was the most hilarious thing.. seriously "You Go Girl?!"

Got me to thinking, what is behind this art work, who is behind it? Well, after 2 years of pondering I decided to bring the situation up to my co-workers. Brooklyn native Marlene is oh-so familiar with the markings and says she thinks it may have something to do with a whore house. Sorry M, but after some research I've put your whore house beliefs to rest.

I came across an article on City Rag which gives a little insight into the mysterious inkings. Apparently You Go Girl is not exclusive to New York City but has also been spotted in cities such as Los Angeles, New Orleans and Portland.. interesting, a You Go Girl domestic tour.

City Rag reports that apparently there is only one culprit responsible for the renderings. I must meet him and find out the meaning behind the lyrics, will the underlined answer be one which is profound or just "I thought it was funny." If anyone can lend insight please let me know! Until then... You Go Girl.
