d.brand Halloween Party at GunBar

HAPPHALLOWEEN!

In NYC Halloween takes the cake as being one of the biggest and most celebrated holidays among all NY'ers. If you have yet to experience it you have about 5 hours to get here, book the ticket, forget the hotel and get out here! d. brand took to celebrating this past Saturday at our resident night time hot spot GunBar in the famed Meat Packing District of Manhattan.

d. brand US's fearless leader Per

d. brand US team members (L to R; Alex, Jenn and Carrie)
We partied with the ballerinas, pirates, cartoon characters, etc. We had an amazing time, thanks to all who braved the snow, rain and slushed icy streets to come get crazy with us, Absolut Vodka for keeping our table stocked all night long and of course GunBar (esp. Bobby Persson & Aaron Elbaz) for always being our partners in crime!
Be safe out there tonight, make sure to have your parents check your candy before eating (kidding...)

The Swedes Keep it Sweet

Being an American and working for a Swedish company, you learn a lot about the culture. House music, and the hot blondes fail in comparison to the most important thing I believe the Swedes can go down in the history books for... the candy! Pretty much every other week we are into'ed to a new tastier than ever Swedish candy thanks to our amazing boss Per. We were living off of Daim chocolate for about a month straight (available at Ikea Food Market $4.49 per bag), this week we have moved in to Dumle (available at
Scandinavia House, NYC)... I think this may be my favorite as of yet, think Rolo candy with a punch. Swedish fish-type candies also come in a variety of shapes and flavors (coke bottles, lips, etc.)

Next time you are in IKEA pick up some candy rather than frozen meatballs (second thought, go for both.) If in NYC make sure to head to the Scandinavia House (58 Park Ave @ 38th Street.)

Exploring the Catskills

Green for miles.
This past weekend I (Carrie) had the pleasure of getting out of the city and heading upstate NY to the Catskill Mountains (think Dirty Dancing) with a group of my friends to explore the wilderness and all that is not NYC! We stayed in a very eclectic house in the middle of no where (and I mean the middle of no where.) Each room housed a different theme including a bathroom completely adorned with creepy circus clowns of all natures; dolls, paintings, trinkets, etc.. (sorry forgot to snap a picture of that one.)

May be the oldest diner in existence
The majority of our weekend was spent on the wrap around porch on the back of the house basking in the sun and soaking in the greenery or in front of the wood burning fire, and of course indulging in a few delicious cocktails.

Apparently rock god Lenny Kravitz has also stayed in this country home.

When living in this concrete jungle we call New York City it is essential to get out at least every other month, the city is fantastic but it also has a way of making you forget what else is out there; including nature. Big thanks to all my friends for an amazing weekend!

Costume Time!

It's time to get creative and start brewing up what you are going to show up to our d. brand x GunBar Halloween party on Saturday, October 29th as. d. brand will be giving out a killer prize for the two party goer's who have the best costumes in the house! We thought maybe you would need a little inspiration to kick off the brain storming process, so... we have attached a few creative but questionable costumes above which just might have (not) won the vote.

All Polished Up

(A) NARS in Arabesque, available at Nordstrom (B) ZOYA in Mitzi, available at Zoya.com (C) Essie in Mochacino, available at essie.com (D) E.L.F. in Blush, available at eyeslipsface.com (E) Essie in Plumberry; available at essie.com (F) O.P.I in Pamplona Purple, Available at opi.com

Fall is here and that means your hot pink nail polish is no longer going to be socially acceptable. We put together a few of our favorite picks for Fall nail colors from some of our favorite cosmetic brands. Although we don't think hot pink can be pulled off for Fall unless you're Betsey Johnson we do think hot green makes the bill!
What colors are you feeling for Fall?

Is it snowing already!?!?

Hey this is Alex.
I can't believe it, I just got off the phone with my mother and she said that it's already began snowing in Sweden! Seriously.. its just the beginning of October, Summer practically just ended!
I feel so bad for my friends back home... they already had to swap out their Fall clothing for heavy winter jackets. I felt bad telling them that I was wearing a bikini at the beach last weekend (make sure to check out our post from our adventure at Rockaway Beach if you haven't already!)

I'm so glad that I'm here in New York right now, at it's least 21°C ;)  (70°F)
Stay strong Sweden...

xoxo
Alex

Flats are Fun

(A): Converse; available at Saks Fifth Avenue (B) Converse; available at Converse.com (C) Comme des Garcons; available at Saks Fifth Avenue (D) Giuseppe Zanotti; available at Saks Fifth Avenue

Even though Victoria Beckham seems to pull it off we can't imagine wearing heels every single day. We picked out some sneakers we feel would be awesome on the feet and really spice up or calm down an outfit.. not to mention keep your back from being in oh so much pain after a long night on the 5 incher's!

Rock Away at Rockaway Beach

The fall is here and you should take every opportunity you get to enjoy the last summer sun!

We went to check out Rockaway, and what it has to offer!

Far away? Not at all! We just jumped on the A train towards Far Rockaway and got off at "Beach 67th St" and walked down to the beach. The whole trip took us about an hour.. and when we got there it was like entering a completely new place, free from skyscrapers and stress!

First we walked 2 blocks and then down to B 69th st, which is considered one of the main surfer beaches. We decided to get some surfing lession. 2 hours later, 90 dollars poorer but a lot happier, feeling like real surfergirls! We had a lot of fun and it's really worth the money! Surfing lessions start at 9 and 11 pm(Ask for Frank when you get there)

Feeling like watergoddesses we strolled along the shore, jumping in the water and dancing, down to B96 th for some food. Just one block up on B96th st and Rockaway Beach Blv is this awesome taco place! $3 tacos, not so big, but absolutely amazing!! -Check it out! http://rockawaytaco.com/

When it got even warmer we decided to go back down to the beach for a swim. The water was very cold and this late in the season it's mostly surfers, but it felt so good to just take a dip!

What an amazing day away from the city! Too bad it's October and we'll probably have to wait for next year to do this again!
